By Sarah Quale — During a press conference at its headquarters this morning, Personhood Alliance affiliate Georgia Right to Life denounced Netflix, Disney, Warner Media, CBS, Sony, and others who are threatening to stop work in the state if the Georgia heartbeat law is allowed to take effect. Georgia Right to Life is uniting Georgia pro-lifers against the Hollywood attacks and pursuing efforts to protect all pre-born children equally, without exceptions.
Georgia Right to Life to lead the state on personhood
Personhood is the right to have rights. These rights do not change, regardless of age, race, developmental stage, ability, manner of conception, wantedness, or any other characteristic. And they certainly do not change under threat of economic punishment, noted Georgia Right to Life executive director Zemmie Fleck during this morning’s press conference. “Netflix, among other film industry giants, is using intimidation in order to force Georgians to trade innocent human lives for money,” said Fleck. Cherokee County Right to Life chapter leader Suzanne Guy and other press conference speakers echoed Fleck’s statement. “We are here to kindly, but very boldly say that Netflix does not represent our Georgia values,” said Guy. “We will never—I repeat, never—exchange babies’ lives for money.”
Georgia Right to Life is working to unite grassroots pro-lifers against Hollywood’s attacks and shape Georgia’s pro-life future. The attacks specifically target the passage of Georgia’s heartbeat law; a law that allows exceptions in cases of rape, incest, and disability. These exceptions directly contradict the personhood language that currently exists in the law, which faces the expected legal challenges that will most certainly delay or even block its implementation. Georgia Right to Life is committed to helping the grassroots and state legislators take the next right step. “As an affiliate of the national organization Personhood Alliance,” says Fleck, “Georgia Right to Life believes that human life should be protected from its earliest beginning through natural death—no exceptions; no compromise…This is the only way for Georgia to avoid becoming like New York.”
