One year ago this week, the US Supreme Court overturned the infamous Roe v. Wade decision. The Dobbs v. Jackson opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, had been leaked to the press months before in an attempt to put public pressure on the justices of the Supreme Court to dissuade them from ruling against the now overturned constitutional “right” to abortion.

The underlying law that triggered the constitutional review of Roe v. Wade was Mississippi’s 15 week abortion ban, which was vigorously defended by Attorney General Lynn Fitch and argued by Mississippi’s Solicitor General, Scott Stewart.

The Dobbs Donation Drive

To commemorate the opinion, the Attorney General took to Twitter to announce a donation drive in the Her Plan, a campaign coordinated by Heartbeat International along with religious and non-profit partners that intends to fund pregnancy care centers where women can go for support.
